Password-Protected Bots

Hello,

is there a way to control password-protected Switchbot Bots in your project?

If not, do you have any idea how I could program this? Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to find anything about it so far.

Are you talking about BLE or hub interface?

I’m talking about BLE.

I set a password in the SwitchBot app to prevent the bot from being controlled by anyone nearby.

This password would now need to be transmitted as well so that I can control the bot via the ESP.

I only have the standalone bot without the hub.

Ok, so if you open the Advanced settings, you should see a place to enter the password you have set on the SwitchBot app.

Currently, I’m having significant issues compiling the sketch. I’ve installed all the libraries, but I’m getting a ton of error messages.

You’re still using the ESP32 version 1.0.4, right?

Have you tried installing via the binary?
If you could show the errors, I will try to work out why it's not working.

I’ve just successfully flashed the binary, and it’s running fine. However, I have to say that I don’t have a Homey.

I would like to control the SwitchBot using a POST request from another smart home hub.

The advanced settings you mentioned are probably not in the ESP but in the Homey, right?

I’ll compile the error messages and post them here later.

Ah, yes, the Advanced settings are in Homey.
If you can understand JS code, you can check out my SwitchBot app to find out how to encode the data with the password to send.

I’ve deleted the password for now and can control the bot through my smart home hub (Homee).

Do you mean “com.switchbot”? To encode the data with a password?

Yes, that's the repo.

What version of NimBle have you used?
I updated to version 2, but the author said that was added to the libraries by mistake and would be removed, so maybe that's the problem.

I’ve installed version 2.0.0 via the Library Manager.

Should I try a different version?

Version 2.0 is the one I updated to.

Maybe the library is now incorrectly listed in the Arduino Library Manager.

Do you have the option to send me the library? So i can test it.

I’ve looked at the JS code, but unfortunately, my programming skills aren’t sufficient to understand how to send the password.

I know this is a big request, and you probably have many other things to do, but would you be willing to help me with this?

@AdyRock I get the same compiling error. have installed all the versions you have in your readme. Only ArduinoJson by Benoit Blanchon version 0.1.2 is not available. lowest is 4.0.0, have installed 7.2.1. installing 4.0.0 is giving other errors. Using Arduino 2.3.2.

And indeed the NimBLE-Arduino 2.0.0 from arduino ide, on the developer github 1.4.3 is the latest I see.

Bin file is not working for me, have a Mac with parallels windows 11, Upload is finished in seconds but no AP after reboot. Wouldn't this have to take more time to finish?

Arduino monitor after upload shows:

Is there something else I can try or doing wrong? Love to have it working with Homey and your app.
