Split Keyboard

Any advice on getting direct mode to work with a split keyboard?
I have both halves working with regular effects changed via open rgb or via however direct mode seems to only control the master half of keeb.
I have tried many options for the color hoster json and in my qmk + via firmware but whatever I do it will only control the master side of split...

Interesting... I haven't worked with a split keyboard before. Does each half connect to the computer separately or together? Maybe they are recognized as separate devices... Could you also link to the firmware source for your keyboard? Maybe there is a clue in the code on how it supposed to work.
