OSP (Outside Plant) Management?

It's a very interesting plugin!

I wonder if you plan to expand it to cover the need to manage outside plants, fiber splices, etc. There was a request in Plugin Ideas (while it was still up): PLUGINS-I-35 - OSP (Outside Plant) Management. See also netbox-community/netbox#10412 or netbox-community/netbox#9974, and also this thread.

Currently you have an integer field for the Number of Fibers (Total number of fiber strands in the cable), so it looks like a good start! Are you planning to make inside strands available as Cables in the futur? (which would probably relates to netbox-community/netbox#20151)

We are aware of this plugin idea (personally I think it is very interesting) and some of the other discussions. To be honest we didn't consider implementing this idea.
I will try to add the "bigger picture" into documentation from which this plugin came, but our focus was more of "customer view" at this problem as one segment object is basically one leased service for us (this service can be dark fiber, optical lambda, ethernet service or some other if need be).
I don't want to say that it isn't possible to include some of these ideas into our plugin but currently we don't have use case and also that many real life experiences. If you have experiences and would be willing to help with data structure we can take a look into this more.
