This is a meta-issue to track the overall progress of consolidating the PR review architecture from MCP client/server to a direct tool calling approach.

Development Order and Dependencies

1. Begin with Phase 1:

   • Start with Consolidated GitHub Action Architecture #2 (Core Architecture) as the foundation
   • Then work on Claude Integration with GitHub Tools #3 (Claude Tools) and Migration from MCP to Direct Tool Calling #11 (Migration) in parallel

2. Move to Phase 2 once Phase 1 is complete:

   • PR Data Collection and Formatting #4 (PR Data) should be implemented first
   • PR Review Process Implementation #5 (Review Process) depends on PR Data Collection and Formatting #4
   • Customization Options for PR Reviews #9 (Customization) can be worked on once PR Data Collection and Formatting #4 and PR Review Process Implementation #5 are stable

3. Phase 3 integrates the components:

   • GitHub Actions Workflow Implementation #6 (GitHub Actions) brings everything together
   • Security and Rate Limiting Implementation #10 (Security) should be implemented alongside GitHub Actions Workflow Implementation #6

4. Phase 4 finalizes the project:

   • Testing and Quality Assurance #7 (Testing) should be ongoing but formalized in this phase
   • Documentation and Usage Guide #8 (Documentation) should be updated as features are completed
   • Release and Deployment Process #12 (Release) is the final step before project completion

Technical Approach

The project will replace the MCP client/server architecture with a consolidated approach using direct tool calling through Claude's API. This will simplify the architecture while maintaining all current functionality.
