Describe the issue

I have 560 titles I've added, they work out to about 1.61TB (1776409640960 bytes)*. Neutrino fails to start.

I thought it was the VMC stuff, deleted that, no change, tried OPL and same issue.

I removed all of the titles but Dark Cloud and 2 PS2 iso converts and now it works again (I renamed DVD to DVD2, so exfat is still as full).

I noticed this in the log:
Total size of PS2 games to be synced: 2245 MB
Available space: 222780 MB

It's a 2TB SSD, I think the partitions or something is simply running out of space and that isn't visible to me on the exfat partition. Music and other stuff is 1GB.

Let's do some calculations:
Drive Size: 2 TB
Games: 1.4 TB
Available Space: 233 GB

Considering the overhead of the APA partition from the PSBBN install, plus usable space on the drive will be below 2 TB when formatted, that seems correct to me. It's not a space issue.

What exactly do you mean by "fails to start"? There are a number of ways you can launch games. Did you try them all? What exactly happens when it fails? Is there an error message? Does it freeze? If it freezes, at what point does it freeze?

Try launching games the following ways and report back with the results:

• Run the game installer and select NHDDL as your game launcher:

  • On your PS2 console, load NHDDL and launch a game from there
  • Launch a game directly from the PSBBN Game Collection
  • Launch a game directly from the HOSDMenu Browser

• Run the game installer and select OPL as your game launcher:

  • On your PS2 console, load OPL and launch a game from there
  • Launch a game directly from the PSBBN Game Collection
  • Launch a game directly from the HOSDMenu Browser

It would also be helpful if you could provide your game-installer.log.

Rarely freezes, other times it reboots back to PSBBN.

No change, that is why I think it is data corruption.

How are you launching games when it freezes? Does it freeze in every scenario I listed above? Can you see the games list in OPL and NHDDL? Can you launch OPL or Neutrino from the Game Collection? What about other apps like wLaunchELF and OSDMenu Configurator, do they launch?

Yeah sorry - the console resets also happen automatically.

OPL has never worked for me.

PSBBN launches.

• Loading takes a minute on collection - known issue.
• Dark Cloud - console reset.

HOSDMenu launches.

• Lists 0KB available.
• Games list available.
• Launched Dark Cloud - console reset.

NHDDL launches.

• failed to load Title ID cache, all ISOs will be rescanned.
• 4 minutes later - Updating TitleID cache.
• Games list available.
• Launched Dark Cloud - console reset.

When I reduce the game list to three (Dark Cloud, Ico, Twisted Metal) the launches work again.

Hmm... no idea what the issue could be. Everything looks okay in the log and nobody else has had an issue like this. All I can suggest is a fresh install and hope that resolves the issue. It's also possible it could be hardware related. It's the amount of titles in the DVD folder, something in Neutrino I guess is blowing up. Moved everything but Dark Cloud and it loads no problem now with the other PP titles.

The issue could be with NHDDL. Even when launching a game from the PSBBN Game Collection, it's done via NHDDL then passed to Neutrino.

Didn't you say you had the same issue when using OPL as your game launcher?

I think it's with the (filesystem) irx itself, if the path is walked the application gets bad filesystem data back (char, and even if you cast to u8 it'll still wrap eventually). I think this can be worked around in PSBBN by simply allowing for subfolders in the DVD folder. Is there any code that has to change with the installer to support this?

This is a really weird one. I'm sure others have installed more games than that. Maybe they all used OPL?

I know NHDDL supports subfolders, but I'm pretty sure OPL does not. Also, subfolders would complicate the game installer quite a bit. For a fix, I'd recommend reporting the issue on the NHDDL GitHub.
