Possible to enable boot sequence (MC Towers) for HDD-OSD/Browser 2.0?

Describe the issue

This is probably pretty niche, and I don't know if it actually fits the scope for this repo.
I am on a slim with iflashPS2 sd mod on the wip pr that gets psbbn working.
Due to the slowness, I switched autoboot to browser 2.0 (which I'd do anyway)

This means the boot flow needs to boot fmcb from memcard, to load hdd drivers, to load into fhdb(?), which then loads into browser 2.0.
This shows 2 fmcb splash screens, so I assume this is a chain load process.

I didnt see any fmcb configuration files on the hdd after installing psbbn, nor any cfg options for the sys-osd configurator in reference to this.

I am looking to know if there is an option to enable the boot animation, the one with the memcard towers, before loading into browser 2.0.

I have found that you can enable this with fmcb by disabling fast boot, disabling skip disc boot, and disabling skip sony logo.
However, when an hdd is loaded via the drivers on mc0, the animation is bypassed, and browser 2.0 boots directly.

I do not recommend using a FMCB memory card, I recommend using PS2BBL instead, details can be found here.

Don't. You should set it to autoboot __system/osdmenu/hosdmenu.elf

This project does not use FHDB, it uses HOSDMenu. You can find out more here. You can configure it with OSDMenu Configurator. The configurator is automatically installed when you select "Install game and apps" from the PSBBN Definitive Project's main menu.

That's a hardware feature. Sony designed the PS2 to act in this way when a HDD is connected, it cannot be changed.

I've read with using a slim console with ide resurrection that a fmcb card is required to load the hdd drivers to load from hdd. I have a 70k slim. Is there another way to load into the resurrected drive without a fmcb card?

Actually, with a slim console, you do not need FMCB or PS2BBL, all you need is the external HDD drivers on your memory card. You can find all the info you need in the readme here.

could not get the hdd drivers standalone, or ps2bbl working with my setup.

With only the hdd drivers on an official memory card, the screen would flicker some, and then remain on a black screen.

With PS2BBL + drivers, I always got an error for not finding LK_AUTO_E1 = hdd0:/__system/osdmenu/hosdboot.elf, even when booting into wlaunchelf and seeing files on hdd0 just fine.

I'll probably just stick with the fmcb auto boot into hosdboot, as that seems to work fine in my setup.

The drivers probably don't work because you're running on an SD card.

PS2BBL shouldn't need those drivers. Try deleting the drivers and see if PS2BBL works without them.
