Unsigned Windows binaries makes SmartScreen sad

Description

Wonder that winget said "successfully verified installer hash" but UAC window still displayed even on winget install. But direct download required much more dance with SmartScreen warnings.

I'll look into getting the exe signed, but if it's anything like macOS where I have to pay Microsoft money, I won't be doing that

i would prefer a free option. TBH i'm heavily opposed to the idea of having to pay anybody just to have my application considered safe to install. it's essentially just a bribe.

anyway, i found signpath which claims to offer this for free to open source projects, so i submitted an application to them

@DetachHead what if we had a fund to pay for the signature? I believe it is $99/year for Apple. Any news from SignPath?

they gave me a test certificate which i was able to get working in #230, just waiting for them to review it and provide the real one.

regarding macOS, money isn't the only issue i have with the process, but feel free to open a separate issue for that if you want to discuss further since this issue is specific to windows
