[BUG] High GPU usage

Describe your issue

When the UI is in view the GPU usage is constantly around 60-70%:

If I minimize the app the gpu usage goes way down:

Clearly there's some issue with the implementation of the new front-end and not even a browser showing a page with animations has this high gpu usage.

The igpu is an Intel Iris Xe graphics (igpu of intel i7 13800H) with the latest available drivers v32.0.101.7088

Open UniGetUI and check GPU usage in task manager.

Hi,
Was UniGetUI completely idle when you measured this, or was it scanning for packages, checking for updates, downloading icons, or running an install/update? Those operations can cause the UI to refresh frequently, which may temporarily increase GPU usage.

On my system, UniGetUI sits at around 4% GPU usage while idle with the window open, so I'd like to understand what might be different in your case.

I just confirmed and it happens all the time.

I had updated packages today when I took those screenshots so I tried closing the app (I completely quit the app).

I opened a new instance and the GPU usage was lowish during load (~20%) but after 1-2s or so it went to the 60-70% and remained there.

Thanks for confirming. If it stays at 60–70% even after a fresh launch and while idle, then it doesn't seem related to background operations.

I'll investigate what could be causing this. Thanks for the additional information.

One more thing: do you have Transparency effects enabled in Windows? (Settings → Personalization → Colors → Transparency effects)
If so, could you try disabling it temporarily and let me know if that changes the GPU usage?
