Is there a way to bypass the token creation?

I'd like to be able to use it without the token, or by fixing a secret that I can use across different influxDB.
is that possible somehow? bypass the authorization is also totally fine for my context. I just want to avoid have to create and manager different tokens.

I don't think that's possible, you need to provide the token for any meaningful database operation either directly in the CLI or via environment variable

I’ve managed to deploy Telegraf + InfluxDB on each of my edge devices and visualize everything in Grafana, but this setup forces me to create one admin token per device, which isn’t very scalable. Ideally, I’d like to use a single token across my entire fleet.

I know I could run only Telegraf on the devices and send data into a centralized InfluxDB, but I’d prefer to keep a standalone database on each device—if there’s a simpler, more scalable way to handle authentication.

Any recommendations on how to avoid N separate admin tokens or how to use a preset token/secret?

It's so sad because having to mint the token makes using InfluxDB in a containerised / composable way .... practically impossible.

Who made these architectural decisions? Why has this been made so difficult to use?

Hi @michealroberts have a look at this doc: https://docs.influxdata.com/influxdb3/enterprise/admin/tokens/resource/preconfigured much of it will apply to Core, also bear in mind that you don't need to have InfluxDB 3 core running when creating token file.
