Font rendering is slow

Dunno if its just me but its super laggy and kind of unplayable

Can you give me more information?

What hardware are you using?
What monitor resolution are you playing with?
Which browser are you using? Have you tested it with another browser?

Is there anything specific you do before the lag occurs? Do you have any instructions on how to reproduce the problem?

I just realized that it could be because hardware acceleration is turned off in your browser. Could that be the case?

Hi, I just wanted to say that Kleat has improved the fps a lot. It was bad due to the font rendering as it was rendering every single character from a image file rather that using a normal font and importing that. Heres the github commit: Kleeat@d8ddcc7

sorry, I didn't notice because the main demo hasn't been updated (and might be in legal trouble, since it's using minecraft textures)

I'm experiencing the lag issue as well, even though hardware acceleration is enabled. The code is a little too complex to go through for me right now, but one idea that could help improve performance quite a bit would be to use instanced meshes. As Minecraft is just a voxel game and you've got tons the same blocks within your playing field, it's just perfect. ThreeJS also supports this, which should make it even easier to implement.

This is a GUI issue, happens on Chromium, not on Firefox, but the game itself runs well (on chromium), the gui doesn't run well

I checked myself, the issue seems to be (mainly) because of text rendering.
