32bit exe installer for windows

Hi mdsplus,

I am working on a small labview project and I want to read/write data to mdsplus with labview in a mdsplus client computer. (LabVIEW 2025 Q3)

I figured some of the steps and got stuck because sadly I have to use the 32bit labview. I checked and couldnt find 32bit stable release. I found some 32bit alpha releases. I am okay with the alpha.

I usually use 7.142.81 or 7.153.xx stable releases. Should I go ahead and install an 32bit alpha release in between them?

Btw steps are:
install mdsplus.
move mdsplus/labview into labview/vi.libs folder
open labview it cannot find mdsobjectslvshr.dll
find that in system32. if 32bit mdsplus is installed I think it will be in the syswow64 folder instead. (confusing windows file names)
wait for labview to mass compile
open labview tools/advanced/edit palette set. find MDSplus.mnu in the labview/vi.libs/mdsplus/ and select it
then use mdsplus VIs

I am new to labview, Data Value Reference (DVR) is very confusing to me now, but I will figure it out.

Hi @ZackAcilar -- We will be making a new stable release soon. That release will of course also include installers for 32-bit Windows and 64-bit Windows. In the interim, it would likely be best for you to use the 32-bit installer for the current alpha.

I will investigate to find out why you've encountered issues with the mdsobjectslvshr.dll.

I didnt necessarily encounter an issue with the .dll

on my laptop I have 7.142.81 stable installed from the exe installer (win 11) and that .dll is in system32 file.

I just installed the 32bit alpha 7.156.0 from the exe installer (win 11) and that .dll is in mdsplus/bin folder.
that caused a slight confusion. Then I copied the .dll file to labview/vi.lib/mdsplus as well just in case.

another detail 32bit alpha 7.156.0 mdsplus is installed in the program files not in program filesx86. I mean installer prompts and I could have checked and changed it. But it is fine.

Just leaving a note here about the "program files x86", that is supposed to be set with this line:

We'll look into why it isn't working properly

It might be because the overall system is 64-bit, even if the installer isn't?
