flow tests are broken for v2

97f828e is the most recent commit that mentions v2. They work fine in that commit, so they were broken for v2 sometime after that.

This could also be a case where the flow tests were updated with better coverage for something and it exposes problems in v2.

I'm thinking we should create a separate branch off of that commit for v2 and abandon v2 support in the main branch. The last v2 release was in August 2024, there's one unreleased bug fix that we might release, but otherwise we don't expect to make any changes to v2.
