Hardening: A2A server validator warns but proceeds on non-localhost bind without server_auth #1883

Context

A2AFrontEndConfig.validate_security_configuration in packages/nvidia_nat_a2a/src/nat/plugins/a2a/server/front_end_config.py currently warns and proceeds when host is a non-localhost interface and server_auth is None:

In production, a single log line on startup is easy to miss. The resulting deployment is an unauthenticated A2A endpoint on the network — arguably CWE-306 (Missing Authentication for Critical Function) by configuration rather than by code bug.

Prior work

I opened PR #1877 with one approach (add an explicit opt-in flag, reject the config by default). @dagardner-nv pushed back that this is a behavioral change and asked me to open an issue first to discuss requirements and possible solutions. That PR is now closed; this issue is the coordination point.

The tradeoff

The hardening-vs-compatibility tradeoff is real:

Questions for the team

  1. Is this considered an operator-responsibility item (documented in the A2A deployment guide) or a framework-responsibility item (validator enforced)?
  2. If the team wants enforcement: is the breaking change acceptable in a minor release, or does it need to go through a deprecation cycle?
  3. If deprecation is preferred, what's the target release for the hard-reject?
  4. Should this be paired with a similar hardening in other network-exposed front-ends (fastapi, etc.) for consistency?

What I'd like to contribute

Happy to implement whichever direction the team agrees on. The PR #1877 diff is available as reference for the "reject + opt-in" shape. If the team prefers a softer approach (louder warning, deprecation warning, pre-commit lint), those are all straightforward to produce.
