Best for:

• “Is this expected behavior?” checks
• Build / packaging help (PyInstaller troubleshooting)
• Ideas and feedback before opening an issue
• General community chat and sharing

Issues

Best for:

• Reproducible bugs
• Clear feature requests
• Installer failures / scheduled task problems that need tracking
• Docs issues that need a concrete change

Pull Requests

Best for:

• Code changes
• Documentation improvements
• Build fixes (PyInstaller, packaging, installer behavior)
• Small improvements you can implement directly

Basic community rules

We want this to be a place people enjoy participating in.

1) Be respectful

Treat everyone with patience and professionalism. No harassment, insults, or personal attacks.

2) Assume good intent

Most confusion is accidental. Ask clarifying questions instead of escalating.

3) Keep it constructive

If you disagree, focus on the idea and propose an alternative.

4) No illegal or harmful content

Do not share content that encourages wrongdoing, malware distribution, or misuse.
This project exists to support malware analysis and education — keep it defensive and responsible.

5) Don’t post secrets or sensitive data

Never post:

• API keys, tokens, passwords, auth headers
• Private URLs, internal IPs, customer data
• Full private configs from real environments

If logs are needed, redact first.

Asking for help (what to include)

To get the fastest answers, include:

• OS + version (Windows 10/11/Server, etc.)
• Install method (Traceix deployment zip vs built from source)
• What you expected vs what happened
• Steps to reproduce
• Build details (Python version, PyInstaller version, command used — if applicable)
• Relevant logs (redacted)

Tip: If it’s clearly a bug, open an Issue instead of a Discussion so it can be tracked.

Security / vulnerability reports

Do not post security vulnerabilities in public Discussions.

If you believe you found a security issue, report it privately:

• Use the repo’s Security tab (if enabled), or
• Contact Traceix support through official channels.

Maintainers & contributors

We love contributions. A few guidelines:

• Keep PRs focused (one topic per PR when possible)
• Explain the “why” and “how to test”
• Avoid breaking changes to configs/install flows unless clearly documented
• If you change watch-folder behavior, note any performance implications

Introduce yourself

To get started, reply with:

• Who you are (handle/name)
• What platform you’re using (Windows/Linux/macOS)
• What you’re doing with Cortex Agents (home lab, SOC workflow, research, education, etc.)
• One thing you’d love to see improved
