"Crop to Selection" just stops working. But sometimes this tool just makes transparent the pixels in the area that it must be cropped.
At the same time, a problem with the "Rectangle Select" tool appears: mouse click resets the selection, but this click creates a selection with a size of 0:0 (the same thing happens if the selected area did not exist). And when switching to any other tool, it just doesn't "work" because it is applied to an invisible selected area.
Unfortunately, I have not been able to figure out the specific steps to reproduce the problem.
What I noticed: at some point before trying to use the "Crop to Selection" tool, I used the "Move Selection" tool and a large scale.

Any ideas?
