quickJump searchbox losing focus - Mac OS Tahoe 26.4

Everytime I try to move an e-mail to a folder or moving to a folder, the text box doesn't allow me to write more than a letter. The text box loses focus. When I click the next letter one of the results shown is selected.

I tested it this morning but couldn't reproduce the particular problem. can you make a debug log, with these settings:

you can set these from QuickFolders Advanced / Debug Mode >> advanced configuration:

Open debug log with Ctrl+Shift+J (or via Tools >> Developer Tools > Error Console )

Make sure these options are set:

then reset the debug log before your start searching / enter the very first letter in the quickJump searchbox:

then after you typed the 2nd character (and the bug occured that puts focus into the menu) immediately go back to the error console and copy it immediately with the context menu:

I am already using an AbortController that cuts short the folder traversal whenever you type the next letter, but I found QuickFolders would still render the interim results, so I added some code that will stop the first popup from rendering should you type while it is still generating the previous folder list (so it should fix your issue when you type fast enough). It would be interesting to see whether you still have the problem if you only enter the first letter and wait for the first menu.

by the way which version of Thunderbird are you using?

Hi, Unfortunately it doesn't work. My Thunderbird version is 149.0.1, running under Mac OS Tahoe 26.4 in a MacBook Pro M1Pro. I reinstalled Thunderbird in order to check if there was any problem with the installation. I also have disabled all the add-ons with the exception of QuickFolders in order to see if there was a side effect from another one. Some additional info: The lost of focus only occurs with the three first letters I write. From the fourth letter onward, that loss of focus no longer occurs. I hope this will. help.

can you try the new version below? I am trying to set back focus when the popup shows (unless you click on a result or push arrow down to go into the menu yourself)

A fresh debug log would be helpful. Best put it in a text file which you can attach when you go to the Github link for your reply (this is much preferred to answering the email, which gives me slightly badly formatted replies I need to edit after the fact).

Related bug: #659 (Also on MacOS 26.*) - they seem to have made changes in rendering menus that break stuff in a bad way.
