patching on real Mac

I just upgraded my system with a Force MP510 and 10.12 doesn't see it. I install 10.14 on an external and that can see the nvme. I came across your patch and I think I followed your instructions and made the patched kext under 10.14 but it doesn't seem to load so OS X is unable to find the root drive. My MBP is on 10.12.6 security update 2. Any ideas how to debug it? I don't have clover or anything to force the inject.
