How to save VICmodel output to be used late

Your package, VICmodel, is very good. Here is a question for you.

How do I save VIC output, in whatever format, so that I can read them late with R or Excel? VIC output is a kind of raster style. I can process VIC output when I use VICmodel, but I like to save them as well. Any idea?
