Copy Sensei-settings 1:1 to another account

Hi!

I'm about to go crazy and have to ask this:

I have finished setting up Sensei on my main account, and the settings and positions load perfectly on each of my alts when I select the corresponding EditMode profile.

Now I'm trying the following:
I copy the Sensei addOn folder and the account-wide savedVariables to another PC and, of course, I also change the ACCOUNTNAME in the WTF folder, as I play there with a second account.

Now the following happens:
Different account = my EditMode profiles are not there, of course.
So I export them from one of my characters on the other account and then import them again.
All settings are transferred except for the Sensei settings. It seems like that the defaults get loaded there.
I know that I managed to transfer the settings successfully during my tests a few days ago, but now it doesn't work anymore.

How does Sensei save the settings? Am I overlooking something?
I could use Sensei's export function, yes, but since I want to keep the setup of my UI compilation as simple as possible for its users, I would like to load the profiles directly or via the EditMode export string.

I'm grateful for any advice! :)

Hi,

Currently, the only way to get it to work with copy/paste is to have the same layout name as profiles are linked to the name of your edit mode layout.

You can also use the API https://github.com/Snsei987/SenseiClassResourceBar/blob/main/Helpers/API.lua#L147 if you want.

OMG! That was it, I used different names like "testing 1", "test 123" but totally forgot to test it with the original profile name....
Using the API would be my way to go if I were better in Lua :)

Hey! I will re-open this ticket even though it might be a issue on my end (again), but maybe it's "good to know" for you, too.

This issue kept me busy again today.
I tried transferring my data again on my test machine with a different account.
This time, I had the same problem again: It didn't transfer the Sensei data, but this time I was using the original Profile name!
I thought I was going crazy...

Ultimately, it was because I already had an EditMode profile with the same name as my main account on the test account. I deleted it before and then immediately tried to import the EditMode profile (with the same name) again. Everything worked, but the Sensei bar didn't get the settings.

Deleting the profile again, restarting, and importing it didn't help either.

Only this worked:
Test computer -> Log in to test account
-> Delete profile in EditMode
-> Exit WoW
-> Copy WTF folder from main account
-> Start game -> Log in -> Import EditMode profile with its original name
-> It works in that order

I only half understand what's going on in the background. I'll probably have to resort to profile export/import in the future.
In my opinion, it would be nicer to have a profile-system like the ones in other add-ons, even though I think the integration into edit mode is actually a very good thing.
