Loudest alarm volume is still extremely quiet

I like listening to music while I work, but Pomotroid's alarms are extremely, extremely, extremely quiet -- about one eighth as loud as normal system sounds

Here is Pomotroid's alert-work.mp3, note that the waveform tops out around 15%

Here is a typical mp3 file, note that the waveform is normalized around 100%

The result is that if I listen to music, I can't hear my alarms.
