Submit agr-cli to Homebrew Core

It's recommended to submit agr-cli to Homebrew Core formulae for the Homebrew package manager distribution https://github.com/homebrew/homebrew-core.

This way, macOS users can be very easy to install the CLI via brew install agr.

Thanks for the suggestion. After reviewing the current Homebrew requirements, I think this should be handled in two stages.

1. What we can provide now: an official Homebrew Tap

The practical near-term solution is to create an official TencentCloudAgentRuntime/homebrew-tap repository and publish an agr formula there.

Users would then be able to install AGR CLI with:

brew install TencentCloudAgentRuntime/tap/agr

Or, after tapping the repository:

brew tap TencentCloudAgentRuntime/tap
brew install agr

The formula should build AGR CLI from a stable tagged source release and include a non-interactive functional test, for example agr schema instance.create -o json.

2. Requirements for entering Homebrew Core

According to Homebrew's current acceptance requirements, a new formula should:

• Be open source under a DFSG-compatible license and build from source.
• Have a stable, tagged release.
• Be maintainable, work without downstream patches, and have no known unpatched security vulnerabilities.
• Build and pass tests on Homebrew-supported platforms, including the latest three supported macOS versions and x86_64 Linux.
• Have a homepage and a meaningful, non-interactive test do block.
• Avoid self-update behavior and unversioned downloads.
• Be used by people other than the authors and meet Homebrew's notability requirements:
  • Normally: at least 75 GitHub stars, 30 forks, or 30 watchers.
  • For software submitted by its own developers or representatives: three times those thresholds, i.e. 225 stars, 90 forks, or 90 watchers.

The repository currently has approximately 15 stars, 10 forks, and 1 watcher, so it does not yet meet the Homebrew Core notability threshold.

Suggested path:

1. Publish and maintain the official Homebrew Tap now.
2. Add the Tap installation command to the README.
3. Revisit a homebrew-core submission after the project has sufficient external adoption and meets the notability requirements.

Thanks for reporting this. The CLT prompt was caused by the previous Homebrew package not having a prebuilt Bottle. Homebrew therefore handled it as a regular formula installation and performed its Command Line Tools compatibility check. AGR CLI itself does not require the CLT.

We have now published AGR CLI v0.6.3 with prebuilt Homebrew Bottles. The macOS 26 ARM Bottle has been verified to be publicly downloadable and installable.

Please update the Tap and try again:

brew update
brew install TencentCloudAgentRuntime/tap/agr-cli
agr version

If Homebrew reports that agr-cli is already installed, use:

brew reinstall TencentCloudAgentRuntime/tap/agr-cli
agr version

The installation output should now contain Bottle agr-cli (0.6.3) and Pouring agr-cli--0.6.3.arm64_tahoe.bottle.tar.gz, without requiring a CLT upgrade.

Homebrew should select the matching Bottle automatically. If it still shows Formula agr-cli instead of Bottle agr-cli, please retry with --force-bottle and share the complete output so we can investigate further.
