Wordpress cant run (Your PHP installation appears to be missing the MySQL extension which is required by WordPress.)

Prerequisites

• I have carried out troubleshooting steps and I believe I have found a bug.
• I have searched for similar bugs in both open and closed issues and cannot find a duplicate.

Describe the bug

Since yesterday, our website hasn’t been loading and is showing an error. Multiple PC

Expected behavior

When I enter my.wordpress.net, the page loads normally.

Actual behavior

It shows an error and lets me reload the page, but it doesn’t help at all.

Steps to reproduce

The first thing is that after deleting the site, it works normally, but once I upload the backup, it starts showing the same error again. I tried switching to mobile data to rule out an internet issue, but that didn’t help.

This didn’t happen on just one website, but on different PCs with different plugins and templates installed, as if there had been an update yesterday that caused some kind of problem.

On my website, I only had the Classic Widget and a text editor installed—nothing else.

Isolating the problem

• I have deactivated other plugins and confirmed this bug occurs when only this plugin is active.
• This bug happens with a default WordPress theme active.
• I can reproduce this bug consistently using the steps above.

I am also experiencing this.

I visited my.wordpress.net and it loaded successfully. I left without creating a site, and when I returned, I saw this error. It is persistent, and I can't get it to go away after reloading.

This mysql error also happens if you try to open a saved playground.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Visit playground.wordpress.net
2. Click "Save", select "Save in this browser", and click "Save".
3. Page will automatically reload and the error will appear.

It's happening across browsers and with different playground blueprints.

also my.wordpress.net aber first automatic save, you can not start my.wordpress.net again

I've deployed the the fix to playground.wordpress.net and for me the problem is fixed. If anyone else could please confirm, thank you!

Thanks @ashfame and @akirk! It's working for me. I no longer receive a MySQL error on playground.wordpress.net after saving a playground in the browser and opening it. I tested in MacOS Chrome and Safari with the default playground and a recent example blueprint.
