No sound from internal speakers on Acer Aspire AL16-31P (Realtek ALC269VC, likely amp issue) #500

Description

Laptop: Acer Aspire AL16-31P
CPU: Intel Alder Lake
Audio codec: Realtek ALC269VC
Audio controller: HDA Intel PCH

Problem:
Internal speakers produce no sound on Linux. Audio system appears functional but output is silent.

Tested distributions:

  • Fedora 43 (kernel 6.17.1)
  • Ubuntu 25.10
  • EndeavourOS (Arch-based)

Observed behavior:

  • Speakers detected as "Built-in Audio"
  • Audio plays (no errors), but no sound is heard
  • Headphones and HDMI output work (if tested, confirm)
  • pactl shows sink in SUSPENDED or IDLE state
  • alsamixer shows normal levels

Diagnostics:
aplay -l shows:
card 0: PCH [HDA Intel PCH], device 0: ALC269VC Analog

Manual test:
aplay -D plughw:0,0 /usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Center.wav
→ no sound output

Attempted fixes:

  • Disabled Auto-Mute Mode
  • Forced analog-stereo profile
  • Installed alsa-sof-firmware
  • Tested multiple kernels and distros

Conclusion:
Likely missing support or initialization sequence for internal speaker amplifier (smart amp).
