Exception occur when I try to build with JDK 16

Yes, it works perfect with Java 15. So I guess they have add some more protection in Java 16.

Workaround:
setenv MAVEN_OPTS --illegal-access=permit
 
The issue should be fixed, since in coming JDKs later, this arg will be removed and not work anymore.

No IT fails, but ran reproduce on any OpenJDK distro version 16.0.1 on Windows and FreeBSD 12-STABLE. My ugly feeling is that this isn't this plugin, but the underlying Plexus Interpolation component. Robert Scholte, w/o looking into it further, woudl that make sense for you?

I expect that plexus-interactivity is the problem. This one is quite hard to test due to its nature. IIRC the most recent version of this library is broken too, it needs some TLC.

Martin Aldrin please build and test with the latest version from the master branch. I believe that MPH-174 should fix issue, at last for my simple cases it started to work correctly with Java 16,

sorry for late reply, I must have missed the updates. 

Anyhow, I have tested this now with JDK17 and it works perfect, In Java 17 the workaround that Ning provided are no longer allowed.

 

When can we expect a new release of maven-help-plugin?

I downloaded the the project from github, did a manual build. 

Then I manually added the plugin dependency in my pom file, to override the default version 3.2.0 with 3.3.0-SNAPSHOT

After that I excused the command that gave me the problem, this time with Java 17 instead of 16.
