I can't get ApacheBench to work on Mavericks. All the alternatives (siege, httperf, weighttp) aren't showing performance comparable to before. 1.8.7 should be doing ~78rps, but now it's testing ~56rps.
Possible problems:
- All the rubies have been recompiled, they may have been misconfigured. (Seems unlikely, 1.8.7 used to be compiled with gcc 4.2, now RVM compiles with gcc 4.6, not clang, so it should be faster if anything. The other rubies should be compiling with clang. Also, I looked in 1.8.7's
RbConfig.rb and saw -O3 in a bunch of places.)
- ployglot is showing up in some of the Gemfile.lock's like 50 times, maybe that is causing problems.
- ApacheBench may have been special.
- Mavericks may throttle the processor more severely that Snow Leopard. (Seems not to be the problem. When throttling was disabled with Coolbook, improvements were slim to none.)
