Steps to reproduce

Go to a user's dash.
Look at "Due Today"

Issue description

I had an old kids chores install that I didn't really use, but I had initially set up some chores. Is it possible that there could be something lingering? At this point? I've reconfigured all of the three or four chores that I have, and it doesn't make sense that it says due today. However, none are due today.

Will debug and provide lots if needed.

It works fine on one user, but not another (they do have 2 shared chores, and one independent chore each.

I haven't been able to reproduce this yet. I'm wondering if it is just one particular chore type that is causing this. Can you tell me more specific details about that cleanup after dinner chore and others you see this issue show up for?

Comparing it to another chore (the other one that's only assigned to a single person) there are two unintentional differences. Both are daily chores.

The problem chore has:

To be clear, this is the only user that has the issue. I don't assume the issue is with this chore (you'd know better). I circled it just to point out that it's the only "due" chore and it's completed.

I somehow am also running into this. Can't figure out where it pulls the chore because every chore is showing correctly in the back end as far as I can see. Every count I query shows correct as well. Just the dashboard showing wrong.
I've also deleted chores and added chores, nothing is making this go away :)

Dashboard shows overdue assignments even when none exist

Description

The ChoreOps dashboard displays one or more overdue assignments, but the Home Assistant helper sensor reports that there are no overdue chores.

Environment

• Installation method: HACS

Expected Behavior

If there are no overdue chores, the dashboard should display 0 overdue assignments.

Actual Behavior

The dashboard continues to show overdue assignments even though there are no overdue chores.

Steps to Reproduce

1. Create several chores with recurring schedules.
2. Complete or delete any overdue chores.
3. Verify that no chores remain overdue.
4. Open the ChoreOps dashboard.
5. The dashboard still displays one or more overdue assignments.

Troubleshooting Performed

I verified the data exposed by the ChoreOps dashboard helper sensor.

The following template returns 0 overdue chores:

I also inspected the helper sensor and confirmed that none of the chores have:

primary_group: overdue

Example output (entity ID and chore names redacted):

No chores are assigned to the overdue group.

Additional Information

This appears to be a discrepancy between the dashboard UI and the underlying helper sensor. The helper sensor indicates there are zero overdue chores, while the dashboard still displays an overdue count.

Thanks for the additional detail. I'll definitely spend some time on this in the next couple of days. I'm sure it's some small logic bug I need to step through.

I'm either running into this, or another similar issue.

In my setup I've got 4 users, and lots of chores, with a range of settings.

I'm fairly sure it started happening when I did the following.

I had an Independent Chore that was assigned to all 4 users.

I then removed one user from this chore as they never did it and didn't want it on their list. It gets removed from the list and doesn't show on the dash board, or any of the helpers as far as I can tell. However the Due Today count for that user didn't decrement.

Today the Due Today for that user is still showing 1 higher than the number of chores in the list.

If I add that user back onto the Independent chore, the chore appears on the dash board, but the Due Today count doesn't increase.

Removing the user again doesn't affect the Due Today count, which I think comes from that users dashboard helper.

Update. I've managed to fix my issue, although the solution wasn't ideal.

Deleting the offending chore and then recreating it but only assigning it to the users I want seems to have fixed the issue for the original user. Due Today count is now correct on the dash board.

This is great. Now I'm better understanding why I had a hard time recreating. I'm sure I can trace this down now.

OK. This is seems to be 100% reproduceable for me.

Trigger the Bug

Step 1) Create a Independent Chore. Assign it to all 4 users, create using default settings - all I changed was the Name, Icon and I assigned a label under advanced.

Due Today count for all users increments by 1. New chore appears on the dashboard under each user.

Step 2) Edit the chore to remove one user. Due Today count for that user stays the same. Chore disappears from that users dashboard. No other users get affected.

"Fix" The Issue

Step 1) Delete the offending chore.

Due Today decrements as expected for users (down by 1 if uncomplete, no change if marked complete). Chore disappaears from each users list

Step 2) ReCreate the Chore, but assign to just the 3 users. Due Today count for those users increments by 1 and the chore appears in the list for each user.

No idea if any other chore types are affected, but hopefully those steps will help you reproduce.
