Bonjour must be installed on all Windows computers attempting to talk to the octopi controllers.
When you install iTunes you ALSO install Bonjour - which is a mDNS client.
Windows doesn't come w/ that by default
mDNS is the process by which all the printers declare their hostnames
so mini-1.local only lets you connect to mini-1 because mDNS tells you where it is
