Doesn't work for some reason

Hi, it doesn't work for me on Windows 10. I installed it with admin rights as instructed. It said registered dll succesfully and OK.
Still can't see model thumbnails. Regular thumbnails for images work fine.
I tried to reboot but still no luck.

There's no need to share a model, because it doesn't work for any model at all (even standard goldsrc models). There's just not a single thumbnail.

I also tried to install this today on Windows 7 PC and it worked perfectly, without even a reboot. So it might be an issue with my windows. But like I said, I can see jpg/png thumbnails just fine, so they are not turned off.

If you have some debug version of the dll which can record logs or something, I will be happy to assist in resolving this issue.

In fact, there are two ways for the shell extension to access the model file data, and Microsoft recommends accessing the file data through the IInitializeWithStream interface, which is done for security reasons.

But this way has a disadvantage, it can only access a single file, as you know, the MDL file may have some external dependency files, such as “xxxT.mdl” or “xxx01.mdl”, so I chose the other interface IInitializeWithFile to access the file data, which allows the extension to get the file path to access these external files.

I tried installing this extension into Windows Server and it doesn't work at all, probably because Windows security policy doesn't allow IInitializeWithFile to work.

I will try to add some logging to the extension so you can test it, it may be a few days.

The log doesn't appear. I tried to creating an empty file with this name in that folder, unregistered, registered, still no luck.

This means that your OS's security policy does not allow the IInitializeWithFile interface to work.

I don't know how to adjust these security policies. or you can try another edition of Windows.
