I'm not familiar with ApplicationComposer but note that CDI Query DAOs are not EJBs. Does ApplicationComposer somehow integrate with e.g. OpenWebBeans?

The QueryHandler class is a proxy getting called on any method on a DAO:

The problem might be that internally CDI Query is also using CDI to resolve dependencies. Is this suppored by ApplicationComposer? Will do a quick research when I got some spare time.

Also if the extension is used without the regular CDI lifecycle events, those need to be called manually, see

BTW, as for issue #41 I will add some documentation for Arquillian tests.

ApplicationComposer is a pre-arquillian solution which works fine with CDI (today an arquillian-openejb-embedded-4 module exists).

The issues you faced with openejb, tomee (openwebbeans in fact) and cdi-query is due to solder which suppose implicitely it runs on weld. It should be better if you use openejb trunk (i didn't try eveything but managed to make a simple sample working with the patch sent to remove Serializable from QueryHandler).

In case you have a working Maven profile with the openejb Arquillian module, that would be a very welcomed addition (working in the sense of running up to the serialization exception - I can pick it up from there).

actually due to solder usage it needs the snapshot, not sure the last one is working but i think tomorrow it will be fine
