how do you like an idea to gamify the contribution process?

I made a GitHub app that implements elements like XP for commits/PRs/issues, Levels, Leaderboard, Challenges, Badges. This may work for community, especially first-time contributors to contribute more with no efforts from maintainer.

Problem
The app currently displays static, hardcoded weather data (e.g., fixed date of March 7, 2023; identical hourly temperatures of 21.8°C; repeated forecast entries for "Sunday 10"). This makes it non-functional for real-world use, as users can't get location-specific, up-to-date information. Without dynamic data, the app feels like a mockup rather than a useful tool, limiting user engagement.

Proposed Solution
Integrate a free weather API like OpenWeatherMap (which offers a simple free tier with current weather, hourly forecasts, and air quality data). Add a basic search bar at the top of the page where users can enter a city name (e.g., "London") to fetch and update all sections dynamically. This would pull live data for temperature, conditions, humidity, UV index, sunrise/sunset, air quality, and forecasts, replacing the placeholders.

Alternatives Considered
Use a different free API like WeatherAPI.com (similar ease, but OpenWeatherMap has broader docs and community support).
Default to geolocation (via browser's navigator.geolocation) for auto-fetching based on user's IP, but this adds complexity with permissions and fallbacks—search bar is simpler to start.

Additional Context
This change would make the app instantly useful and shareable, boosting user retention (e.g., people checking daily forecasts). It's low-effort (~1-2 hours of coding) but high-impact, turning a demo into a functional MVP.
