[BUG] Settings are forgotten after restart (MSI VECTOR)

after restarting, i have to set the battery profile again (i usually have it on "best for battery", but it defaults to "best for mobility"). same for custom fan controll, i always have to enable it (click the ckeckbox, and then click apply. also it dosent seem to run on startup, but idk how to test it, and it never did, so i am asuming thats intended behaviour.

Advanced fan mode issues will be fixed in the future.

As for battery charge limit, it seems your EC is resetting on its own, but as a simple test, go into .config folder in home, look for a file named MControlCenter.conf and delete it, then restart your system and check if battery mode persists when you set it.

after reading your reply originally the battery level threshold randomly kept beeing remmeberd, so i kinda forgot about it. the fanprofile was still beeing turned off (but not forgotten the individual fancurve numbers), but i didnt really need it that much.

i tested, and after deleting the file (rename to .old) and restarting, a new one has been generated. the battery was still set to my prior battery setting and custom fancurve turnes off but not forgotten, as always. so no change

@david-m-w in some models, the fan curve only takes effect in the High performance mode. the battery threshold resetting could be the result of using another program for limiting the charge (TLP or the like), but to me, this looks like an EC issue which can't be resolved from my side.

try updating the bios (which also updates the EC with it)

i have no other software on the laptop controlling battery, and fan curve does work in battery optimal modd, but only when i activate it

@mutchiko i updated bios (and hopefully ec did as well), and i saw a new tab about keybaord backlight, but then i installed another os (Nobara, fedora bsed) installed msi-ec and MControlCneter again and nw i only have the four tabs i had origginally, (Overview, Battery, Fan control, about). also settings are still being forgotten. did you mean gnome high power setting, or msi-ec high power setting? they do take effect even with both those power settings turned off, i just have to start them myself.

okay, now im wondering, do all the settings reset? or is it just advanced fan mode and battery charge limit?

also, try closing the app from the sys tray, and running it from the terminal mcontrolcenter, if there is any output, please send it here

just to add, if your laptop has RGB keyboard backlight, MCC can't modify the colors, you should use openRGB. the fact that the keyboard page showed up means there is something wrong in the installation (msi-ec or MCC)

the preformance mode (in Overview tab) resets, the battery threshhold is remmeberd, the fan curve itself (the temperature-fanspeed values) are rememberd, but the advanced fan controll is forgotten.

the keayboard has always had red backlight that i can make brighter via fn+f8, but i havent gotten any rbg softare to work. the keybaord tab apeard on my old os, i didnt update any msiec or MCC , i just updated the bios, and it apeard. im not really interested in controlling the colour, in case i even can. would be nice but not really a priority for me rn

performance mode resets after sleep/reboot on most models, for now there isn't a fix (yet), if advanced mode isn't re-activated, i need the output of cat .config/MControlCenter.conf

also, what is the EC version reported in the About page?

also the icon no longer apears on the gnome task bar, idk if thats a feature or a bug, i dont rlly care. shoudl i open an issue? i dont remember telling it to be/not be inn the task bar in either installlaition, and in the last one it was. seems inconsistent, but i may have forgotten

edit: i just realized it always said usbpower share and ive never changed it, but i could always charge via the usb a and usb c ports... maybe this also deserves a separate issue
