unable to install deb in ubuntu 24.04 LTS

But how did you build the package? It has 20.04 in the name, I assume that binary is for Ubuntu 20.04.

Nevertheless in the past I was able to resolve the missing package by downloading from an older Ubuntu (https://packages.ubuntu.com/focal/libboost-program-options1.71.0). Did you try?

Instead of generating the .deb, I just did sudo make install

And it works? You have another boost version?

I believe it should as what we always do is recompiling with a new boost library that makes no difference in behaviour (so far). Somebody should create a patch that makes it easier with new Ubuntu environment to build, ideally we need a Debian packaging for it.
