View matplotlib figures in dashboard

It is in many cases much easier to create matplotlib plots, and users are typically more used to it. It is therefore important to be able to plot matplotlib figures in the dashboard.

It is ok if it just shows a png file and much much better if it provides an interactive window.

Is this still a valid request? I think spirits have warmed somewhat towards plotly right?
