Pangolin Client not able to connect to self-hosted VPS #36

Description

Describe the Bug

When trying to connect to my self-hosted VPS, I'm finding that the pangolin GUI client will just refuse to connect. The CLI version is confirmed to be working. I've tried to find logs for the GUI client, but cannot find them for the life of me. There don't seem to be any verbose logs anywhere in the GUI client.

Environment

  • OS Type & Version: MacOS 26.3.1(a)
  • Pangolin Version: 1.17.0
  • Gerbil Version: 1.3.1
  • Traefik Version: 3.6
  • Newt Version: n/a
  • Client Version: (if applicable) 0.7.0

To Reproduce

I1.) nstall Pangolin .dmg app as normal

2.) Point client at my https domain

3.) Allow special VPN permissions in the privacy settings.

4.) Attempt to connect using the icon in the top-bar and it will load for a half-second and go back to a 'disconnected' state.

Expected Behavior

The CLI version of pangolin client connects to my self-hosted server with no issue, but the GUI is getting different results.
