OpenCascade was recently compiled to JS using Emscripten and wrapped as an IDE containing a text editor with auto-completion on one screen half, and a view on the other side : https://github.com/zalo/CascadeStudio
I think that a similar minimal IDE could be done for G'MIC x JS, starting from your work @fta2012
I have no time for this now though... being also focused on the Python binding for G'MIC in my free time

@ashrafulislambd libgmic is under the Cecill C license corresponding to a form of LGPL attributed to many online codebases published by french public research laboratories. The Cecill C license, if I am not mistaken, does not forbid using libgmic for commercial use at all, it just tells you that you should publish any change to it, unless you use it as a pure aside library. gmic.js is a library of the library, so my guess is that it should be under the Cecill C license as well.

CeCILL-C is well suited to libraries and more generally software components. Anyone distributing an application which includes components under the CeCILL-C license must mention this fact and make any changes to the source code of these components available to the community under CECILL-C while being free to choose the licence of its application.

As to software maturity gmic.js for commercial sites, I do not know, you should prototype it yourself and estimate if it is mature enough. If you plan to use gmic as a serverside tool only and python is OK for you, I would highly recommend using https://github.com/myselfhimself/gmic-py instead which follows the almost latest libgmic versions, and was developed with @dtschump (the author of G'MIC)'s supervision. For front-end use only.. gmic.js should be tried and tested by yourself. Especially, you have not stated your target application / use case clearly.

I didn't ask about licensing. I asked, whether the JavaScript will version fail or not in application. My target application is an online image editor and I want to apply cartoon effect to it.

What is your cartoon effect in terms of G'MIC expression? Do you want per area filling (requires labelling ie. putting dots interactively) or just one or more simple filters with input images loading and output images retrieval ? gmic.js compiles a very old version of G'MIC and you would need to run the Makefile again and maybe fix the C++/JS binding first.. maybe the cartoon filters you intend to use were released later than that or depend on a newer G'MIC internal commands or expressions. You can evaluate the maturity of gmic.js by looking at its online demo... Have you tested it already? Have you tried evaluating new G'MIC expressions in your web browser's developer console? I would recommend going for server-side G'MIC for now (gmic-py or gmic-cli), with AJAX or a front-end/fullstack JS framework, because those alternatives are up to date with the G'MIC language releases. gmic-py is slightly more efficient (no images file swapping needed between calls) and easy to use if your server-side application is in Python (eg.
