Sadly I cannot reproduce.
= Test.docx opens and I can edit it immediately I would guess it's some sort of Word setting. Maybe check with a test macOS login new user? |

Not sure why, but MS Word docs that I add to a stapler file only open in read-only mode. Any idea why that is and how to change it? When I close the word file and open it manually it opens normally (as in I can edit it)...
