Any suggestion on how to implement the feature as mentioned on this page https://michelf.ca/projects/php-markdown/extra/#markdown-attr ?

<div>s are extremely usable if we want to customize the layout/style of html output from markdown source.

I can take a try of adding this support if anyone can give me some guidance on how-to.

The approach would be to define an extension that hooks into html.onHtml, and when the extension gets invoked, parse the received html into a dom, look for elements with the markdown="1" attribute, and recompute their contained content.

Ideally the "recompute their contained content" part would be done by invoking marked-it, but there currently isn't a way to do this from an extension. I think marked-it should be added to the collection of data that gets passed to extension invocations like html.onHtml, then your case should become doable.
