LAN Turtle SCP command

So I try to run the scp device.config root@172.16.84.1:/etc/ on Windows 10 command prompt with being sshed into the LAN Turtle and I get this error device.config: No such file or directory

How do you fix this?

You have to be in the folder that you have downloaded device.config too

The issue is that you're running scp from within the SSH session to the LAN Turtle, but scp needs to run from your local machine (or specify the correct source/destination).

From your Windows 10 machine (not SSH'd into the Turtle):

# Copy FROM your machine TO the Turtle
scp device.config root@172.16.84.1:/etc/

# Copy FROM the Turtle TO your machine  
scp root@172.16.84.1:/etc/device.config .

If you're already SSH'd into the Turtle and want to pull a file:

# You need to reverse the direction — push from local, not pull from Turtle
# The Turtle can't SCP back to your Windows machine unless you have an SSH server running on Windows

# Alternative: use the USB serial connection
# Or copy via the /tmp directory and USB storage
cp /etc/device.config /tmp/usb_mount/

Common Windows SCP gotchas:

1. Make sure OpenSSH is installed (Windows 10 1803+ has it built-in)
2. Run from PowerShell or CMD, not from within an SSH session
3. If using PuTTY, use pscp instead of scp:

   pscp device.config root@172.16.84.1:/etc/
   

4. Make sure the file device.config exists in your current directory — use dir to verify before running SCP
