petsc4py and mpi4py

Annoyingly, the petsc4py installation fails for me on macOS and the mpi4py installation fails for me on Ubuntu 18.04.

I will try some other installation approaches but I am creating this issue just to flag this.

I'm using Ubuntu 22.04, and I've encountered installation issues when I didn't use virtualenv. It seems that these packages can be a bit sensitive to install.

@philipcardiff I tried installing the packages from requirements.txt, and it went well; the only thing I had to do was brew install open-mpi. Surprisingly, it was easier than on Ubuntu.

We can close this then, since it works with a new mac!
