If I remember correctly, there was a clash with the conllu version required for the script and the conllu version required by AllenNLP 0.9 .

In general, we should try to create a requirements file that can be used to create an environment for the alignment model in one step.

@TheresaSchmidt just a quick update: I've created a new requirement.txt file that works by copying all installed packages of your /proj/cookbook.shadow/conda/envs/alignment environment. It worked by calling pip install -r requirement.txt --no-deps (in order to eliminate dependecies clush between different packages versions)

Before I upload the file (= a new long list of requirements), though, I want to create a new environment using the original file + --no-deps in the command line and see if that works as well. Will do it as soon as I have some spare time (and check whether --no-deps doesn't actually have negative consequences on the long run).

Still getting this version conflict when trying to install the requirements:

ERROR: Cannot install -r requirement.txt (line 7) and conllu==4.2.2 because these package versions have conflicting dependencies.

The conflict is caused by:
    The user requested conllu==4.2.2
    allennlp 0.9.0 depends on conllu==1.3.1

Is conllu==4.2.2 really necessary or will 1.3.1 suffice?

Hi @danielhers, do you still get the error message even if you call pip install -r requirement.txt --no-deps ?
If yes, I can create a new requirement file with all packages installed in our internal environment and you can try with that.

--no-deps works, thanks! Sorry, I had missed that this is the workaround. It would be great to update the README to indicate it.
