• Both have small typeface in the map, not just the sidebar.
• what other styling is possible on short notice? we are going to probably print them in full A0 size

  • I already highlighted this on this thread that we can either use a marker point/, then use different colours to show the different categories.
  • the current icons makes it hard to distinguish between the different types of projects.
  • The other option is, we pick icons from the UNOCHA site that you sent to me a while back.
  • I have attached in here a few of the Icons from that UNocha site. Mikel let me know what you think.

Makueni did a review and validation session. Erica Zach and I discussed next steps

Data

• Zach made these spreadsheets makueni-projects-revisions.zip
• Zach will update this Google Sheet
  • For Wote (tabs 23rd and 25th), there is a new column Project_Name_for_Print. Enter the project name for print here IF it differs from Project_Name_or_Title
  • For Mbooni (tab Mbooni), there is a new column Merge_OSM_ID. Enter the OSM id of the facility this project should be mapped to. Only add a value for this column if a facility has more than one project.

Cartography

• Use a more detailed basemap. Try Mapbox Streets first. Or if needed, use osm.org tiles packaged into mbtiles
• Add the boundary layer for the ward
• Manually position labels were there is collision
• Make the icons bigger to be more visible

Listing

• The map icons should be categorized by type of facility ("type" in Zach's spreadsheet), not department. Important to distinguish pre_primary/primary/tertiary/vocational -- use different color, same icon.
• Combine projects into a single facility (Mbooni map especially), unless projects have different status, then list twice.
  • Erica kept a list of which features are to be combined
• Listing on right
  • if needed, ok to reduce size of text to fit more
  • Wote -- use project name w/ some modification. Zach has added additional information into his CSV
  • Mbooni -- including name from OSM and the project listing

I noticed that I din't have the right to edit so I just downloaded the document and edited offline.
"For Wote (tabs 23rd and 25th), there is a new column Project_Name_for_Print. Enter the project name for print here IF it differs from Project_Name_or_Title". I have done that.

• In wote we have few duplicates that should be removed I have marked them with red.

Right to edit what? Editing offline isn’t helpful we need to control the number of documents. Can you request access online please?

1. what I need to do with the data

• Create a report of any projects from the project spreadsheet which do not match anything in OSM.
  I am afraid there may be some things missing from print (and web map too) because of a failure to match an OSM POI using PB:ID.
• Kamunyolo earthdam is a point that was missing from the map (due to above problem with its PB:ID). If you re-run the data now, it will appear because I changed it in the Google sheet to the right PB ID. However you want to manage this, it needs to be added to the print map. I believe that is the only point that is actually missing from print map (pending your report on any failures to match).

2. what I need to do with the map

• add world bank logo
• make icons larger (except water drop one and dam are OK)
• possibly substitute the shelter symbol for a different icon (the one I suggested for public facilities)
• update the legend to match icons
• check map numbers: I found two points labelled number 8 on the print map. Please review that this is an isolated incident, and then correct the inaccurate one.
