Gridded Binary Predictors

A metadata encoding for the result of a Gridded Binary Predictors process

• Processing steps:
  1. Begin with a gridded NWP field. E.g., 700 mb relative humidity (RH).
  2. Apply a threshold to that field. E.g.:
     • every gridpoint on the original grid that has RH >= 70% receives a value of 1;
     • all other gridpoints receive a value of 0.
  3. For a collection of stations, interpolate the field of 0’s and 1’s to yield a value between 0 and 1 at each station.
