Enabling "voice mode" once in a new session view shows it enabled in new-session view next time but doesn't work

repro:

1. open new session view (cmd+n)
2. enable voice mode by clicking
3. say something to start the session
4. press cmd+n to create a new session
5. 🐛 new session view now has voice mode enabled (see by looking at UI) but one can't talk to it. When I click on it, it just goes to the toggle button UI
