Awesome script–thanks for sharing!

I ran into an error after ~175 addresses were geocoded. However, the error doesn't provide any context: Action not allowed. The details of the message say the same.

Any ideas what could be happening? Did I hit an API limit?

I had the same problem with this line:
Dr Michael Bense, St. John's, NL, A1B 1S1

I think it might be the '? Hope this helps.

@osmanzeki might be correct. I was hitting this issue with ' as well.

How to fix this? do you escape the quote with a backslash or do you need to remove the quote?

I simply removed the ' in my case and re-ran the GeoCode function. Once it ran successfully, I re-added the ' where it was removed from.

One way to fix this would probably be to escape the ' characters before sending them to Google's GeoCoder service at this line here:

With something like:

// ...

    for (row; row <= addresses.getNumRows(); ++row) {
        cell = addresses.getCell(row, 1);
        var address = cell.getValue();

        // Escape chars causing errors with Google's GeoCoder service
        address = address.replace("'", "");

// ...

This way the invalid chars remain in the sheet's cell but are never send to GeoCode. More chars could also be added if they are problematic.
