Hono Package is not under @modelcontextprotocol

Describe the bug
The hono package as stated in https://github.com/modelcontextprotocol/typescript-sdk/blob/4a7cdf4f2b20b7bac71885e8414315f7bb6c66be/packages/middleware/hono/README.md
Comes under the @modelcontextprotocol namespace in the npm registry, however it does not exist here.

The implementation is published here https://www.npmjs.com/package/@hono/mcp under hono, not modelcontextprotocol. These files are recently edited, so i presume its just not updated.

Confirmed this is still reproducible on March 12, 2026. still returns a 404, while 0.2.4 resolves successfully (). I also checked the repo and the scoped package name is still referenced in multiple places (, , , , and ). So the issue looks real and the fix path is probably either publishing under or updating the install/docs references if is the intended package.

Confirmed this is still reproducible as of March 12, 2026. npm view @modelcontextprotocol/hono version still returns a 404, while npm view @hono/mcp version resolves successfully to 0.2.4. I also checked the repo and the scoped package name is still referenced in README.md, docs/server.md, docs/migration.md, packages/middleware/README.md, and packages/middleware/hono/README.md. So the issue looks real, and the fix path is probably either publishing under @modelcontextprotocol/hono or updating the install/docs references if @hono/mcp is the intended package.

package @modelcontextprotocol/hono is now live on npm at 2.0.0-alpha.2, published ~2 weeks ago. reopen if still seeing a 404.

@modelcontextprotocol/hono is published on npm. Issue is resolved.

fix landed in commit 00215619 (PR #1841 "Version Packages (alpha)"), after CI was switched to OIDC trusted publishing in PRs #1838 and #1839. tested on sha b8886e77 (current origin/main).
