"Meeting Proposals": range-select to create time candidates

In the "create meeting proposal" activity, instead of "click-to-create" workflow adding individual slots to the "selected times" list, accommodate bulk creation of timeslots, e.g. by means of a crab.fit-like range selection. E.g., "duration" configured to "30min", if a user selects cells from (upper-left corner) "9am on Thu, 2nd of July" to "5pm On Fri, 3rd of July", the app could create consecutive non-overlapping 30min slots starting at 9am and ending at 5pm for each of the two days.

I would also keep in mind the buffer time, etc (if set) when calculating the slots.

This has the possibility to create 20+ possible options to vote on, so now if you have only 10 attendees and 20 possible slots, and everyone votes on a different slot, what is the point of voting?

I don't think "consecutive non-overlapping 30min slots" would work in reality. Now creating one or two slots per day that might work.

When there is one attendee, they can choose one from the 20 available slots. Which would make sense.

Not sure, if this this what you mean, but if fullcalendar does not support "https://crab.fit/ "-like selection (B in the image below) it would be hard to implement for us. Still even the behavior as shown in A would be useful.

• Full calendar supports drag creation of events. But the logic to create the individual events in 30min block would need to be custom.

But like I said, I don't see this feature being useful with multiple participants

In case of crabfit, you just sum votes into a histogram/a heatmap. This gives everyone a visual idea of what are the best candidate times, and who's missing out for which choice.

Maybe this problem would be best described as "time finding" than as "meeting proposal": with multiple attendees spread across the globe from utc-8 to utc+8, which times do you propose in the first place?

Nextcloud Calendar could just offer the same heatmap workflow, but with email invitations, import of conflicts from existing calendars, et c.

@SebastianKrupinski Ah you're right, I mistakenly had in mind creating an appointment schedule and not a meeting proposal. That being said, I know the meeting proposal feature was created with multiple external people in mind, but finding a time with one person is an interesting use case, and this would be well suited for that. Currently the single-person find-a-time feature is through an appointment schedule but for one-off meetings or for those who don't want to set up an appointment schedule, this feature sounds useful. But I would not consider it super high priority, especially if it's technically finnicky.

@SomeoneSerge while the heatmap idea sounds really cool, this was originally for an organizational use case and heavily modelled after Microsoft, which most people are used to. it may be unexpected to completely change the way it is presented now :)
