PROJECT: UI/UX of Opencast editor

1. Aim/description

The editor is quite nice but using it in production for now over 2 years, we noticed a few areas with somewhat bad usability:

• In the latest versions of the editor, track selection is basically just broken for certain types of content.
• The thumbnail editor is confusing to users. Especially for multi-stream recordings
• „Save“ vs „Start Processing“ (includes multiple workflows)

• Funding: Very likely funded by Uni Jena and Uni Osnabrück

• Begin/End: UI/UX design has started

This has been paused for multiple reasons. Our plan is to pick this up again in early 2026.
