Initiative pages #29

Description

Motivation: is your idea related to an existed problem? Please describe.
I'm not entirely sure what this community does - within open science, is it only open/FAIR data? What activities are there? Can I initiate activities as a community member?

Proposal: describe the solution you'd like
To create an "initiatives" section for the site, where we will showcase the existing initiatives within OSCD, e.g. open hardware, the RSE community. We also can highlight the fact that any community member can put forward an idea for a new initiative and work on it with other OSCD members.

This will also hopefully help us reach out to other existing communities that are advocating/doing open science work, but haven't associated themselves with OSCD yet.

What are the advantages of being part of OSCD, as oppose to just a standalone community?

  • to have a big, diverse network of like-minded researchers to reach out to, encouraging otherwise unlikely collaborations
  • to have an infrastructure to build upon - you don't need to build a website from scratch to start, but just to build a page in our community site!
  • to benefit from the collective existing knowledge of the community members and community managers

(Optinoal) Describe the steps to implement your proposal

  • invite existing communities (Data champions, open hardware, for examples) to start initiative pages and to provide feedback on this idea
