as a consequence of that error, the build process does not install nodejs

I'm having the same issue when building on Linux Mint, I'd appreciate if anyone had a solution for this. Thanks!

Just found a comment in issue #6: removing '.bak' from the sed command in homebridge.sh seems to fix this issue.
