Installed Power Tab Editor via App Center; launched & received 'Error initializing midi output device.'
Followed advice in error msg:
The MIDI device may not be accessible. The following commands can be run to allow access:
sudo snap connect powertabeditor:alsa
sudo snap connect powertabeditor:jack1
No joy.
System is Ubuntu 24.04 (Gnome 46, Wayland) on a 2013 MacBook Pro 10,1).
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
Apart from the repetitive error message and no sound, it's a super-helpful tool for writing guitar stuff.
Edit/added info:
Midi is working on the system: timidity-snap is able to play a midi file from the desktop.
Power Tab Editor error msg & 'Preferences' pane show the midi device as unrecognized. If the midi
device drop-down is clicked, nothing happens. I'd be happy just to be able to suppress the error message & live without sound, but obv, getting the midi output to play would be ideal.
